概要

What is SynoLink?

SynoLink is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that interacts with the Synology NAS file system. It provides a standardized way for AI models to safely manage files and directories on a Synology NAS.

How to use SynoLink?

Install SynoLink globally via npm (npm install -g synolink) or build from source, then run it from the command line with the NAS URL, username, password, and an optional API version. It can also be configured in Claude Desktop or run via Docker, or hosted on Smithery to avoid local installation.

Key features of SynoLink

  • List contents of directories on a Synology NAS
  • Download files from the NAS to a local path
  • Upload files from a local path to the NAS
  • Supports DSM API version parameter (defaults to "6.2.4")
  • Option to allow self‑signed certificates

Use cases of SynoLink

  • AI assistants browsing and retrieving files from a Synology NAS
  • Automated file uploads to the NAS triggered by LLM tools
  • Managing NAS documents during chatbot or agent workflows
  • Replacing manual file management with MCP‑based tool calls

よくある質問

1

What dependencies does SynoLink require?

Node.js is needed for the npm installation or building from source. Docker can also be used without local Node.js.

2

How is data transmitted and authenticated?

SynoLink connects to the Synology NAS over HTTPS using a URL, username, and password provided at startup. Self‑signed certificates are allowed by default (can be configured).

3

Can SynoLink be used without installing anything locally?

Yes. SynoLink can be hosted on Smithery, which provides a WebSocket connection and a playground for testing, removing the need for local installation.

4

What API operations does SynoLink support?

It provides three tools: `list_files` (list a directory), `download_file` (download from NAS to local), and `upload_file` (upload local to NAS).

5

Is there a limit on file size for upload/download?

The README does not specify any file size limits.
