It is designed for developers and financial analysts using MCP-enabled clients like Claude Desktop, Cursor, and Windsurf.
Install Octagon Financials MCP by running npx -y octagon-financials-mcp@latest with an OCTAGON_API_KEY environment variable (obtain from Octagon after signing up). Configure it in your MCP client (Claude Desktop, Cursor, or Windsurf) by adding the server to the respective config file or command. Once configured, ask your client financial analysis questions using natural language prompts.
It covers over 8,000 public companies with income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, financial ratios, analysts' estimates, and segment revenue (product and geographic). Historical data goes back to 2018 and is updated daily.
It works with any MCP client, with specific configuration instructions provided for Claude Desktop, Cursor (version 0.45.6+), and Windsurf.
You need `npx` (which comes with Node.js and npm). The README includes installation steps for macOS and Windows.
Sign up for a free account at Octagon (app.octagonai.co), log in, navigate to API Keys in the left menu, and generate a new API key.
Fields include total revenue, revenue growth, cost of revenue, gross profit, gross margin, operating expenses, R&D, SG&A, operating income, net income, EBITDA, EPS, and many others (detailed in the README).
