Log in to Monexa with email and password. Returns user profile and stores auth tokens for subsequent tool calls.

Create a new Monexa account. Returns the created user profile and automatically logs in.

List financial records with optional filters. Returns records sorted by date descending by default. Use list-categories and list-payment-methods to get valid filter IDs.

Get a single financial record by its ID.

Create a new financial record (income or expense). Use list-categories and list-payment-methods first to get valid IDs.

Update an existing financial record. Only provided fields are updated.

Delete a financial record by ID.

Get a financial summary (net balance: income minus expenses) for an optional date range, converted to the user's preferred currency.

List all user-defined categories. Returns both INCOME and EXPENSE types with their IDs, names, colors, and descriptions.

Create a new spending or income category.

Update an existing category. Only provided fields are updated.

Delete a category by ID. Will fail if any records still reference this category.

Get spending and income statistics broken down by category. Includes total income, total expense, net balance, and per-category amounts. All amounts are converted to the user's preferred currency.

List all user-defined payment methods (e.g. Cash, Credit Card, Bank Transfer).

Create a new payment method.

Rename an existing payment method.

Delete a payment method by ID. Will fail if any records still reference it.

Get the current user's settings including preferred display language and default currency.

Update user preferences. Can change the display language (EN or MK) and/or the default currency used for summaries and statistics.

Get the current authenticated user's profile (id, name, email).

Update the current user's display name.

What is Monexa?

Monexa is a personal finance and expense tracking application that supports multiple currencies. It uses a Go backend and a React frontend.

How to use Monexa?

You can run Monexa in two ways. For local development, start PostgreSQL with docker compose up -d, then run the backend with go run ./cmd/api/main.go and the frontend with npm run dev inside the frontend/ directory. For a fully containerized setup, use docker compose -f docker-compose.test.yml up --build, which starts everything (PostgreSQL, API, and Nginx‑served frontend) in Docker.
