IP, Patent & Trademark Intelligence is an MCP server that connects AI agents (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf) to three official IP databases — USPTO PatentsView, EPO Open Patent Services, and EUIPO — providing patent and trademark search capabilities through a unified interface.

How to use IP, Patent & Trademark Intelligence?

Add the server URL and optional Apify token to your MCP client configuration. For example, in claude_desktop_config.json, set "type": "streamableHttp" with endpoint https://ip-patent-trademark-mcp.apify.actor/mcp and Authorization: Bearer YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN. The server exposes five tools (ip_us_patents, ip_eu_patents, ip_eu_trademarks, ip_global_patent_search, ip_list_sources) that can be called directly from the AI assistant.

Yes, each source requires free API credentials. The server checks for missing credentials and returns clear setup instructions rather than errors. Obtain keys from patentsview.org, developers.epo.org, and the EUIPO developer portal.

Charges are per tool call (e.g., `us-patent-search` event). Idle standby time is free. Each underlying data actor has a 120-second timeout.

Which MCP clients are supported?

Claude Desktop, Cursor, and Windsurf are explicitly documented. Any client supporting the Streamable HTTP MCP transport can connect using the endpoint URL and bearer token authentication.

What are the query limits?

U.S. patent search accepts up to 500 results; European patent search up to 500; EU trademark search up to 200. Sorting, filtering, and date ranges are available per tool.
