FAQ from Cleric

What does Cleric do?

Cleric manages two configuration files: a personal server list at $HOME/.cleric.json and the Claude Desktop configuration file, allowing you to add, remove, and toggle MCP servers from a graphical interface.

Do I need to back up my configuration before using Cleric?

Yes. Before using Cleric for the first time, please back up your claude_desktop_config.json file if you have manually configured MCP servers in Claude Desktop.

What platforms are supported?

Builds are available for macOS and Windows. The macOS version has been tested; the Windows version (0.3.0) is available but has not been tested on Windows.

How do I apply changes after editing servers?

Don’t forget to restart Claude Desktop after you have made changes to the server list.

What should I do if I get a “developer cannot be verified” error on macOS?

Control‑click the app icon and choose Open from the shortcut menu. If you get a “clerotic is damaged” error, run xattr -cr /path/to/cleric.app in Terminal.
