Overview

Zyte MCP is a remote MCP server that lets an agent use Zyte on your behalf. It can get web pages without getting banned, render them in a browser, pull structured data out of them with AI, search the web, and work with your Scrapy Cloud projects.

Endpoint: https://mcp.zyte.com/v1/mcp (streamable HTTP, OAuth sign-in)

What your agent can do

  • Fetch pages. Plain HTTP requests for static pages, APIs and forms, with any method, headers and body. Zyte handles bans, so your agent does not have to.
  • Use a browser. Render a page, click, type, scroll, wait for an element, run JavaScript and take screenshots. That is enough to log into a site and carry on from there.
  • Extract data. Get the fields of a product, article or job posting, the items on a listing page, or the links to follow next. For anything else, describe the fields you want in plain words.
  • Search the web. Get structured results, as seen from the country or language you choose.
  • Check cost and usage. See whether Zyte API supports a site and what a request costs, and report your own usage by date, domain or feature.
  • Run Scrapy Cloud. List projects and spiders, start and cancel jobs, read logs, requests and items, manage schedules and settings, and read and write collections.

The server has 34 tools. Your agent picks the right one, so you do not need to name them.

Connect it

In Claude Code, run these two commands.

claude mcp add --transport http zyte https://mcp.zyte.com/v1/mcp
claude mcp login zyte

Any MCP client that supports remote servers can connect with the URL above. The docs cover Codex CLI, GitHub Copilot CLI, VS Code and claude.ai.

Check that it works

Ask your agent something small and name Zyte, so it does not use its own web tools.

Fetch https://example.com with Zyte and tell me the title of the page.

You should see a call to fetch_http in your client, and the request will show up in ymcp_access_key key.

Cost

Using Zyte MCP is free. What your agent does through it is billed to your Zyte account y Cloud jobs at Scrapy Cloud prices. One request to your agent can turn into many ZyteAPI requests, so set a spending limit on the mcp_access_key key. New accounts get $5 of trial credit for one month.

Scrapy Cloud tools can change things

Your agent can start and cancel jobs, create, change and delete schedules, change project settings, and write and delete collection records. Deleting a schedule, a collection or its records cannot be undone. Read what your agent asks to do before you approve it.
