Is the SlidesGPT MCP server official?
Yes. It is run by SlidesGPT and documented on slidesgpt.com, including the `https://claude.slidesgpt.com/mcp` URL for Claude custom connectors.

Basic information
SlidesGPT is an AI presentation generator. Its Claude connector turns a topic, outline or attached document into a multi-slide deck with an inline carousel and PowerPoint download, and can re-render the whole deck under a new theme. The server is anonymous and stateless.
https://claude.slidesgpt.com/mcpclaude mcp add slidesgpt --transport http https://claude.slidesgpt.com/mcpCreate one or more professional presentation slides. Pass a single slide in the array for one slide, or multiple slides for a full deck. WHEN TO USE — when the user has clearly asked for slides: - User mentions any of: "slide", "presentation", "deck", "pitch deck", "pitchdeck", "pitch", "slideshow", "ppt", or "keynote" - ANY intent phrasing about slides: • COMMANDS: "create", "make", "give me", "build", "generate", "design" • REQUESTS: "I need", "I want", "can you make", "could you create", "help me make" • SUGGESTIONS: "let's make", "let's create", "how about a presentation on" • IMPLIED: "deck about X", "pitch deck for X", "presentation on X" (even without a verb) - If user asks for "a slide about X" (singular) and the topic warrants multiple slides, generate a single slide itself - When user intent is ambiguous (e.g., "a deck about X" with no slide count), default to 2-3 slides ATTACHED PDFs / DOCUMENTS: Claude ingests user-attached files as document content blocks directly in the conversation. Read the document content from the conversation and pass the relevant material (topic, structure, key points) into this tool's slides argument — there is no separate file upload step. CRITICAL RULES: - Pass all slides in a SINGLE call — NEVER call this tool multiple times in sequence - When adding to an existing presentation, pass the presentation_id from the previous response IMPORTANT: DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP - If no presentation_id exists, pass empty string — a new presentation will be created THEMES: If the user asked for a specific theme, pass theme_id here — do NOT call apply_theme separately afterwards. SLIDE FIELDS — EVERY slide MUST include all of these (the server does not fill them in for you): - title: the slide title - subtitle: one short phrase (4-10 words) that supports the title. Never empty. - slidenum: 0-based position. A new deck starts at 0. When adding to an existing presentation, continue after its last slide. - layout: one of the LAYOUT OPTIONS below - body: 3-5 items (see CONTENT REQUIREMENTS). A "title_and_subtitle" slide may have fewer. - talktrack: speaker notes, 2-3 sentences the presenter says aloud. Expand on the bullets instead of repeating them. - image_caption: the ideal slide image in 8-10 words (subject, setting, mood). Leave image_id empty; the system uses your caption to find the best matching photo. LAYOUT VARIETY RULES (CRITICAL for multi-slide decks): 1. Use a VARIETY of layouts across the deck. Match each layout to the slide's content. 2. Slide 0 of a NEW deck is the title slide: use "title_and_subtitle". 3. The FIRST content slide SHOULD use "title_and_two_columns" (image layout). 4. Decks of 5+ slides MUST use at least 4 different layouts. 5. NEVER repeat the same layout for consecutive slides. 6. Use "title_and_two_to_four_columns_with_icons" for AT MOST 2 slides per deck. 7. Use "title_and_body" for AT MOST 1 slide (conclusion only). 8. Use metric_rings ONLY for percentage-based metrics (0-100). 9. Mix visual variety: combine image slides, charts, timelines, grids, and text slides. LAYOUT OPTIONS (set layout for EVERY slide): - "title_and_two_columns": Content with image alongside bullets (IMAGE LAYOUT) - "title_and_two_to_four_columns_with_icons": 2-4 key points with icons - "title_and_body": Single-column bullets (use sparingly — AT MOST 1 per deck, conclusion only) - "title_and_subtitle": Section divider or transition slide (title + subtitle only, minimal body) - "image_full_width": Full-width image with optional text below (IMAGE LAYOUT) - "image_left_text_right": Image on the left with bullet points on the right (IMAGE LAYOUT) - "quadrant_grid": EXACTLY 4 comparable items — SWOT, 2x2 matrices, pros/cons - "data_table": Structured tabular data. REQUIRES the "table" field with a markdown table (header + separator + rows) - "chart_bar": Numeric comparisons across categories (e.g., revenue by region, sales by product). REQUIRES the "chart" field with type "bar" - "chart_pie":…
Apply a visual theme to re-style the entire presentation. WHEN TO USE: - User says "apply Tokyo Dark theme", "change theme to Paris", etc. - User wants to customize the presentation appearance AVAILABLE THEMES (18 total): • Urban: copenhagen, tokyo, paris, berlin, new-york, la, zurich, shanghai (each has -light and -dark variants) • Gradient: cosmic-pulse-light/dark REQUIRES: presentation_id from previous slide creation. This re-renders all slides with the new theme.
SlidesGPT MCP Server is the hosted connector that lets Claude generate complete presentation decks with SlidesGPT and restyle them with one of 18 themes. It runs at https://claude.slidesgpt.com/mcp and needs no SlidesGPT account, OAuth or API key.
SlidesGPT is an AI PowerPoint generator. Through this MCP server, Claude sends a topic, outline or the highlights of an attached document to SlidesGPT, and gets back an interactive slide carousel with a layout switcher, a theme picker and a Download as PowerPoint button. Generated decks are saved on slidesgpt.com under a shareable URL, but they are not tied to an account.
The connector is anonymous and stateless, so setup is just the URL. SlidesGPT is also listed in Claude's connector directory (Settings → Connectors → Browse connectors → search "SlidesGPT" → Connect).
claude mcp add --transport http slidesgpt https://claude.slidesgpt.com/mcp
Open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, name it "SlidesGPT" and paste https://claude.slidesgpt.com/mcp. The tools appear in your next chat.
Add to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

For your own agent or app, SlidesGPT also documents a general MCP endpoint, https://mcp.slidesgpt.com/mcp, which exposes five tools: create_slides, apply_theme, generate_image, show_theme_picker and upload_files. It is also keyless.
The Claude connector exposes two tools, both described by SlidesGPT as non-destructive:
create_slides — generates a presentation from a topic or outline. Inputs include the topic or outline, an optional slide count, an optional theme and an optional presentation_id to add or replace slides in an existing deck; without it, a new presentation is created.apply_theme — re-renders every slide of an existing deck under a new theme, keeping the content. It needs the presentation_id and a theme id. Themes include copenhagen, tokyo, paris, berlin, new-york, la, zurich and shanghai (each light and dark) plus cosmic-pulse light and dark.apply_theme requires an existing deck. Ask Claude to create the deck first so it has a presentation_id, then request the theme.presentation_id is passed back to create_slides.Yes. It is run by SlidesGPT and documented on slidesgpt.com, including the `https://claude.slidesgpt.com/mcp` URL for Claude custom connectors.
No. SlidesGPT describes the connector as anonymous and stateless, with no account, OAuth or per-user data.
The connector needs no account, and slidesgpt.com has a free Starter plan. Paid Pro, Team and API plans are listed on its pricing page for features such as exports.
Decks are saved on slidesgpt.com under a shareable URL and are not tied to an account. SlidesGPT says it collects anonymous telemetry such as tool name and slide layout, not conversation content.
