Is this server read‑only?
Yes. This project explicitly builds a read‑only MCP server. For full read, write, update, and delete support, CData offers a separate free beta MCP Server for Microsoft SQL Server.

This listing does not currently have a tool list to display. This does not mean the server has no tools; check its documentation for supported capabilities.
We auto-extract tools from the README. The maintainer can list them under a ## Tools heading to populate this section.
A read-only MCP server built by CData that allows LLMs (like Claude Desktop) to query live Microsoft SQL Server data via the CData JDBC Driver for Microsoft SQL Server using natural language. It wraps the JDBC driver into a simple MCP interface, so users can retrieve live information without writing SQL.
Clone the repository, build with mvn clean install, download and install the CData JDBC Driver for Microsoft SQL Server, license the driver, and configure a .prp file with your JDBC connection string. Then add the server to your MCP client’s configuration (e.g., claude_desktop_config.json) using the built JAR and .prp file, and restart the client.
get_tables, get_columns, and run_query toolsYes. This project explicitly builds a read‑only MCP server. For full read, write, update, and delete support, CData offers a separate free beta MCP Server for Microsoft SQL Server.
Java (to run the JAR), Maven (to build), and the CData JDBC Driver for Microsoft SQL Server (requires a license key or trial). The client must run on the same machine as the server because stdio transport is used.
You configure a `.prp` file with a JDBC connection string — obtained from the CData JDBC Driver’s connection‑string utility — along with the driver path, driver class, and a server prefix/name. An empty `Tables` field exposes all tables.
Three tools: `{servername}_get_tables` (list available tables), `{servername}_get_columns` (list columns for a table), and `{servername}_run_query` (execute a SQL SELECT query). All output is in CSV format.

Zero-dependency, token-efficient database MCP server for Postgres, MySQL, SQL Server, MariaDB, SQLite.

Oracle MCP server with no run-sql tool: It generates tools for each of the PL/SQL procedures, tables and approved SQL you choose. The server doesn't expose a SQL prompt, and can't reveal how it's connected to Oracle.
Universal MCP-Server for your Databases optimized for LLMs and AI-Agents.
A Model Context Protocol server that provides read-only access to MySQL databases. This server enables LLMs to inspect database schemas and execute read-only queries.
