Overview

What is HandbookHub MCP?

HandbookHub MCP connects AI assistants to saved employee handbooks. Owners, managers, and teams can find a policy, read the current source page, and use its citation link in an answer.

Available tools

  • list_handbooks — List the handbooks the API token is allowed to read.
  • get_handbook — Browse a handbook's metadata and page structure.
  • search_handbooks — Search saved handbook policies.
  • get_page — Read an individual saved page with its source URL.

All four tools are read-only. They do not create, edit, or delete handbook content.

Connect

  1. Sign in to HandbookHub. As the organization owner, open Settings → API access.
  2. Create a separate token for your integration. Select the handbooks it may access and an expiry.
  3. Configure a client that supports Streamable HTTP and custom authorization headers. Use https://api.handbookhub.com/mcp as the endpoint and send Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_TOKEN.
  4. List the tools, search for a policy, and read the matching source page before answering.

Replace YOUR_API_TOKEN with your own token only in your local client configuration. For Cursor environment variables, VS Code's prompted-token configuration, and MCP Inspector instructions, follow the MCP setup guide.

Access requirements

Available with Starter and Growth, active subscription trials, and the two-week Growth bonus following a one-time Handbook purchase. Tokens are scoped to selected handbooks and can be revoked. This release uses manual bearer tokens; OAuth is not currently supported. Opening returned source links requires the reader's normal HandbookHub access.
