FAQ from Achriom
What is the difference between using Achriom in-app vs via MCP?
The in-app librarian knows your conversation history, current research focus, and how to present results visually. External MCP clients get the raw tools—capable, but with less context.
What are the requirements to use Achriom MCP server?
A free Achriom account is required. MCP access is included on all plans, including free accounts.
How do I connect to Achriom from different clients?
For Claude, use the plugin or connector. For ChatGPT, open the Achriom app. For other MCP clients, use the MCP URL with OAuth: https://mcp.achriom.com/mcp. Connection details are at https://app.achriom.com/mcp.
What data does the Achriom MCP server access?
It accesses your Achriom library: media items, metadata, ratings, notes, and collection stats. It can also search Apple Music previews, YouTube, and within uploaded EPUBs.
What are the known limitations of the external MCP access?
External clients lack conversation history, current research focus, and visual presentation capabilities that the in-app librarian provides. They are designed for raw data access, not the full experience.
