Overview

What is Xero MCP Server by CData?

Xero MCP Server by CData is a read-only Model Context Protocol server that allows LLMs (like Claude Desktop) to query live Xero data using natural language questions. It wraps the CData JDBC Driver for Xero, which exposes Xero accounting data as relational SQL models, and makes that data available through a simple MCP interface.

How to use Xero MCP Server by CData?

  1. Clone the repository and build with Maven (mvn clean install).
  2. Download and install the CData JDBC Driver for Xero, then license it by running java -jar cdata.jdbc.xero.jar --license.
  3. Use the driver’s Connection String utility to configure OAuth and test connectivity.
  4. Create a .prp file with JDBC connection properties (prefix, driver path, JDBC URL, etc.).
  5. Add the server to your Claude Desktop config (claude_desktop_config.json) using the java -jar command with the .prp file.
  6. Run or restart Claude Desktop. Ask natural language questions about Xero data (e.g., “How many open tickets do I have?”).
