What does the server actually do?
It acts as a bridge between MCP clients (like Claude) and the Writeathon API, exposing Writeathon features as callable MCP tools (me, create_card, recent_cards, get_card, writing_pick).

A server that wraps the Writeathon API as MCP (Model Context Protocol) services, allowing AI assistants and other MCP clients to interact with the Writeathon writing platform. It is built with Node.js and TypeScript and provides both REST API endpoints and MCP tools for managing cards, user info, and writing picks.
Install with Node.js 20 (nvm use 20), run npm install, copy .env.example to .env, fill in WRITEATHON_USER_ID, WRITEATHON_TOKEN, and MCP_API_KEY, then start with npm run dev or npm start. The MCP SSE endpoint is available at HOST:PORT+1/mcp/sse.
It acts as a bridge between MCP clients (like Claude) and the Writeathon API, exposing Writeathon features as callable MCP tools (me, create_card, recent_cards, get_card, writing_pick).
Node.js version 20 is required. The server is installed via npm and runs as a local process.
In a `.env` file that must contain the Writeathon user ID, a Writeathon integration token (from web → settings → integration), and an MCP API key.
REST endpoints: GET /api/me, POST /api/cards, GET /api/cards/recent, POST /api/cards/get, POST /api/writing-pick. Corresponding MCP tools: me, create_card, recent_cards, get_card, writing_pick.
Authentication is done via a Writeathon integration token and an MCP API key, both set in the .env configuration file.
