6Get a document signed by one person, and optionally by the user too. Give the document as markdown text you wrote (use {{signature:signer}} where the signature goes, or leave it out and Portant adds a signature block), a PDF (upload_id for files over 1 MB, pdf_url or pdf_base64), or a Google Doc link shared with "anyone with the link". Portant emails the signer a private link; the signer signs in their browser. This tool never signs for anyone. Before you call it, confirm the signer's name and email with the user. Returns request_id, request_token (keep it to download the signed PDF) and next_step (tell it to the user). Limits: two parties, PDFs up to 5 MB and 50 pages, links expire after 14 days. Simple electronic signature.
Check whether the signer has signed. Returns awaiting_sender_confirmation, awaiting_sender_signature, pending, signed, cancelled or expired. Do not check more than once a minute; the user also gets an email with the signed PDF when it is signed.
Find the user's own signature requests by the signer's email address, a word or part of the document title, or both, when you do not have the request_id (for example in a new chat). Returns up to 10 matches, newest first, each with request_id, title, signer and status. With no filter, returns the 10 most recent. Needs Portant connected with sign-in. Then use get_signature_status or cancel_signature_request with the request_id.
After the status is "signed", get a private link where the user can open and download the signed PDF, with its signing certificate page, plus a command that downloads the file for tools that can run shell commands. Needs the request_token from send_for_signature. Portant also emailed the signed PDF to the user.
Get a URL to upload a PDF with an HTTP PUT, for files too large to send as base64. Use it when you can run shell commands, for example: curl -T file.pdf -H "Content-Type: application/pdf" <upload_url> (add the same Authorization header you use for Portant, if any). Then pass upload_id to send_for_signature.
Cancel a request that is not signed yet. The signing link stops working. A cancel does not give back the monthly count.

What is eSign PDF?
eSign PDF by Portant lets an AI assistant send a document for electronic signature and return the signed copy. Give the assistant a link to a PDF, a Google Doc shared by link, or ask it to write the document, such as an NDA or a short agreement. Portant emails the signer a private link. The signer reads and signs in a browser, with no account. Portant then emails you the signed PDF with a signing certificate page. The assistant can also check the status, find a request by the signer’s email, give you a link to the signed file, or cancel a request that is not signed yet.
The assistant never signs for anyone: every signature comes from a person in a browser. Documents are encrypted before they are stored. Emails and signing pages are available in English, Spanish, German, French, Japanese, Italian, Dutch and Brazilian Portuguese.
How it works

You sign in with an email code. A free account is made at first sign-in. API keys are also available for scripts.
Security and privacy
Documents are encrypted before they are stored, and the key that opens them is in the private link, not on Portant's servers. Signatures are simple electronic signatures. Emails and signing pages are available in English, Spanish, German, French, Japanese, Italian, Dutch and Brazilian Portuguese.
Limits
Two parties for each request. PDFs up to 5 MB and 50 pages. Signing links expire after 14 days. A free plan is available, and paid plans give more documents each month.
