What is PowerDMARC MCP?

PowerDMARC's MCP server brings live email authentication data directly into any MCP-compatible AI assistant: Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and others. Instead of generic DMARC advice, the AI works from a customer's actual account, using real aggregate and forensic reports, DNS and WHOIS lookups, domain health scores, and one-command DMARC/SPF/DKIM/BIMI record generation.

MSSPs get their own layer on top, letting them list managed sub-accounts, pull compliance scores across every client, and manage domain groups, all from one conversation, without touching the dashboard.

Every tool call is scoped strictly to the connecting token's permissions, so access never exceeds what the account owner has already granted.

Getting started

1. You'll need a paid PowerDMARC account with API access.
2. Go to API Settings in your PowerDMARC dashboard and create an MCP token.
3. Open the MCP page in your dashboard, you'll find the connection details and step-by-step instructions there for your specific AI client.
4. Once connected, just ask your AI assistant a question, no further setup needed.

What is the PowerDMARC MCP server? It connects any MCP-compatible AI assistant directly to a customer's live PowerDMARC account, so the AI can pull real DMARC reports, run DNS lookups, check domain health, and generate DNS records instead of giving generic advice.

What authentication does it use? OAuth 2.0 with Dynamic Client Registration. Users can also connect using a Bearer token generated from API Settings in the PowerDMARC dashboard.

How do I connect? You'll need a paid PowerDMARC account with API access. From there, create an MCP token in API Settings, then head to the MCP page in your dashboard for step-by-step connection instructions.

Do I need to install anything? No. It's a hosted, cloud-based MCP server. Most clients connect through their settings UI in under two minutes, no self-hosting or code required.

What data can the AI access? Only what the connecting token has permission for. Tokens are scoped per feature area, and any tool the token doesn't have permission for simply won't appear.

Can the AI make changes to my DNS or account, or just read data? Both, depending on the token. Read-only tokens only expose read tools. Tokens with write permissions unlock things like generating and applying hosted DNS records, though DNS-changing actions require a preview and confirmation before anything is applied.

Does it support MSSPs / multi-account management? Yes. MSSP tokens can list managed sub-accounts, check domain health and compliance across clients, and manage domain groups. Detailed DMARC aggregate, TLS-RPT, and reputation data still require the client's own End User token.
