Instagram MCP Server 工具

Get Instagram Comments Fetches the comments on a public Instagram post or reel from its URL (`/p/`, `/reel/` or `/tv/` links, with or without the username segment). The first page returns the post (id, shortcode, caption, hashtags, mentions, likes and comments counts, owner, display image, images, video URL, DASH manifest, hasAudio flag, tagged location, and every carousel item as childPosts) plus the first comments; with includeMusic=true the post also carries music (audioId, artistName, songName) for the reel's licensed track or original sound; later pages return comments only. Each comment has text, timestamp, like count, reply count, and owner (username, verified flag, profile picture, hasdataLink to the profile endpoint). Supports token-based pagination via nextPageToken. Instagram sizes pages server-side (about 10 to 15 comments). Use for sentiment analysis, engagement research, or building comment datasets from posts discovered via the posts API, whose items carry a hasdataLink to this endpoint.

Get Instagram Posts Fetches the latest posts of a public Instagram account by username (handle) and returns each post with caption, hashtags, mentions, like and comment counts, play counts on videos and Reels, image and video URLs, and timestamp. Supports token-based pagination via nextPageToken to walk older posts. Private accounts and handles that do not exist or are hidden from logged-out viewers return an error field instead of posts. Use to monitor competitor content, track engagement of creator posts, or build datasets of account content for vetting and analytics.

Get Instagram Profile Fetches a public Instagram profile by username (handle) and returns full name, biography, external link, profile picture URL, followers count, following count, and verified/private flags. Use to enrich CRM/lead records, verify influencer reach before outreach, monitor competitor accounts, or build datasets of creator metadata for vetting and analytics.

Instagram profile and post data for AI agents

Instagram MCP Server connects Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, and other compatible AI clients to public Instagram profiles and post feeds through the Model Context Protocol. Hosted by HasData, it returns structured JSON for a username: profile details, follower counts, recent captions, hashtags, mentions, and engagement counts. Use it for competitor comparisons, creator research, and content reporting without maintaining a scraper. Server details.

The server supplies the source data. Your AI client performs the comparisons, calculations, and summaries you request.

What can you ask?

  • Creator research: “Compare nasa, natgeo, and bbcearth by follower count, biography, and business category. Include their profile links and mark missing fields.”
  • Content review: “Get the recent posts from nasa. Rank the returned posts by likes plus comment count, and show each caption, publication date, and post URL.”
  • Hashtag analysis: “Collect up to 50 posts from natgeo, following pagination as needed. Count each hashtag and report how many posts were actually retrieved.”
  • Brand references: “List the accounts mentioned in nasa’s recent captions and link to the posts containing each mention.”

These prompts operate on the returned sample. A comparison of recent posts does not establish lifetime performance or audience demographics.

Available tools

hasdata_instagram_profile_getInstagramProfile

Requires handle (string), the username without @. Retrieves a public profile with fields such as biography, followersCount, followsCount, postsCount, verified, business category, bio links, and recent posts in latestPosts. Available fields depend on what the account exposes. Profile reference.

hasdata_instagram_posts_getInstagramPosts

Requires handle (string). Optional parameters are limit (number) and nextPageToken (string). Returns a post-feed page with captions, hashtags, mentions, likesCount, commentsCount, timestamps, post URLs, and media URLs. Posts reference.

The repository documents up to 12 posts per call and an approximate limit: requesting 50 does not retrieve 50 in one call. Check the returned array length, then pass pagination.nextPageToken into the next request while pagination.morePostsAvailable is true. Each page is another call. A profile lookup already includes recent posts, so inspect that result before requesting the same feed again.

Connect your AI client

Create a HasData account, obtain an API key, and configure a client that supports Streamable HTTP with custom headers. For Cursor, use:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "instagram": {
      "url": "https://mcp.hasdata.com/api/mcp?apis=instagram",
      "headers": {
        "x-api-key": "YOUR_HASDATA_API_KEY"
      }
    }
  }
}

Replace the placeholder with your key in your local client configuration. The apis=instagram filter exposes these two Instagram tools. OAuth is also available in supported clients; see the connection guide. No Instagram login is needed.

Cost and free tier

Current Instagram MCP pricing lists 10 credits per successful call and 1,000 free credits each month, with no credit card required. That covers 100 Instagram calls if the balance is used only for these tools. Credits are shared across HasData products; pagination consumes additional calls. See current plans before planning a larger collection.

Frequently asked questions

Can I fetch one post by its Instagram URL?

Neither tool accepts a post URL. Supply the account handle to retrieve its profile or post feed; post URLs are returned as data.

Does it retrieve comment text, Stories, or private posts?

No. The tools cover public profile data and public post feeds. commentsCount is a count, not a list of comments. Stories, DMs, private posts, publishing, and messaging are outside this server’s scope.

Is this Meta’s official MCP server?

No. This is an independent HasData integration. The repository includes additional client configurations and response examples.
