FateTell MCP brings Chinese astrology into AI apps through the Model Context Protocol. Powered by FateTell’s own BaZi engine, it lets users cast BaZi (八字, Four Pillars) charts, access saved FateTell profiles, check personalized daily fortune, and explore the Chinese almanac without leaving their AI conversation.

FateTell handles the calculations and returns structured data. The connected AI explains the results and answers follow-up questions. The MCP server itself does not run a language model or generate readings.

The service uses remote Streamable HTTP. Chart casting and general almanac lookups require no account. Account features use OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, while advanced calculations, personalized fortune, and profile creation require an active FateTell membership. Membership is shared with the FateTell app and website.

MCP Capabilities

1. Cast a BaZi Chart

Access: No account required

Calculate a chart from birth details without saving a profile.

• Accept Gregorian or Chinese lunar birth dates, including lunar leap months.
• Use birth time, IANA time zone, gender, and hemisphere.
• Return the year, month, day, and hour pillars, with Ten Gods, hidden stems, and Na Yin.
• Identify the Day Master and return luck pillars, their timing, and the conception, life, and body palaces.
• Optionally include today’s year, month, and day pillars.
• Apply FateTell’s cross-region rules for southern-hemisphere births.
• Support true solar time when explicitly requested and supplied with longitude.

If the birth time is unknown, the calculation uses 12:00 noon and marks the assumption. Day Master strength and favorable elements are calculated separately.

2. Look Up the Chinese Almanac

Retrieve calendar information without supplying personal birth details.

• Query 1–31 consecutive days.
• Return Gregorian and Chinese lunar dates.
• Show solar terms and their exact transition times.
• Return the year, month, and day pillars.
• Provide month pillars for both northern and southern hemispheres.

This tool returns general calendar data. It does not evaluate how a date relates to a particular person’s chart.

3. Browse Saved Profiles

Find the profiles already saved in the connected FateTell account.

• List profile names, chart IDs, birth dates, and gender.
• Identify the account holder’s own chart.
• Show whether each chart is ready.
• Include hemisphere, chart rule version, and whether the birth time was assumed.

The AI can use these chart IDs to retrieve a saved chart or request personalized fortune and calendar data, so users do not need to re-enter birth details.

4. Read a Saved Chart

Open an existing chart as stored in FateTell.

• Read birth date, birth time, and time zone.
• Retrieve the four pillars, Ten Gods, hidden stems, and Na Yin.
• View all luck pillars, with the current one marked.
• Read the conception, life, and body palaces.
• Retrieve stored Day Master strength and favorable-element results when available.
• Optionally include today’s pillars.
• Receive links to the corresponding FateTell pages.

Saved charts are read directly rather than recalculated. Birthplace names and precise coordinates are not returned.

5. Calculate Day Master Strength and Favorable Elements

Apply FateTell’s own rules to determine Day Master strength and element preferences.

• Classify the Day Master as strong, weak, follow-strong, or follow-weak.
• Return favorable, unfavorable, and neutral elements in priority order.
• Identify earthly branches whose classification differs from their associated element.
• Include the judgment’s rule version.
• Accept unsaved birth details or a saved chart ID.

Saved chart details already include the stored judgment when available; a separate call is generally unnecessary when reading an existing profile.

6. Check Personalized Daily Fortune

Retrieve one saved profile’s fortune data for a specific day.

• Query today or a date within 30 days before or after today.
• Return an energy level of high, medium, or low.
• Show clashes, combinations, punishments, harms, and breaks between the day pillar and natal pillars.
• Include the profile’s year and month pillars for that date.
• Return FateTell’s do and avoid items for the profile and day.
• Include relevant timing markers, such as an approaching luck-pillar change or birthday window, when present.

The tool returns structured fortune data and existing recommendations. It does not retrieve the app’s AI-written daily reading.

7. Explore a Personalized Calendar

Examine a range of dates in relation to a saved chart.

• Query up to 31 days or 12 months per request.
• Return date-specific pillars adjusted for the chart’s hemisphere.
• Show how daily or monthly pillars relate to the natal pillars.
• Include solar terms and month-clash information where applicable.

The tool provides the relationships used for interpretation. It does not rank dates, assign luck scores, or choose an auspicious date automatically.

8. Create a Saved Profile

Save a new chart to the connected FateTell account when the user explicitly requests it.

• Accept a display name, gender, birth date, optional birth time, and birthplace.
• Support Gregorian and Chinese lunar dates, including leap months.
• Resolve the time zone and hemisphere from the birthplace.
• Check existing profiles to avoid duplicates.
• Return a chart ID for subsequent retrieval with get_saved_chart.

Saving another person’s profile requires confirmation that the person has given permission. Profiles created through MCP are additional profiles; they do not replace the account holder’s primary chart.

Existing profiles can be read through MCP. Editing and deletion are handled in the FateTell app or website.

9. Check Account, Membership, and Usage

Inspect the account connected to the AI app.

• View the masked email address and sign-in method.
• Check interface language and account time zone.
• Confirm membership status, plan, and expiration where available.
• Review the permissions granted to the connected client.
• Check per-tool usage limits, remaining calls, and reset times.

This tool is read-only.

Data and Interpretation

FateTell MCP supplies calculated chart data and saved account information. The connected AI is responsible for interpreting that information and explaining its reasoning.

• The MCP server does not access or store the AI conversation.
• Unsaved chart calculations do not create database records or account profiles. Results may be cached in server memory for up to 24 hours.
• Account access is limited to the permissions the user grants through OAuth.
• Users can disconnect an AI app through FateTell’s connected-app settings.
• Usage caps prevent abuse and are separate from usage counts in the FateTell app.
• The service covers BaZi and Chinese calendrical data, not Western astrology.
