What is Backlnk?

Backlnk is a free remote MCP server that gives AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and other MCP clients) technical SEO, AEO, LLMO and GEO checks. Your agent checks a public page, fixes what Backlnk finds in your codebase, and after you deploy, verifies the fix. Every finding comes with its evidence (the URL, the exact excerpt and where it was found) and a recommendation, most important first.

How to use Backlnk

1. Get a free API key at backlnk.com/developers: enter your e-mail, confirm, and copy the key (bk_...). It is shown once.

2. Add the remote server to your client. Nothing to install. For Claude Code:

3. Ask your agent: "Use Backlnk to check https://example.com/pricing. Fix the issues it finds in this repository, most important first. When I've deployed, verify the fixes."

Key features of Backlnk

• run_checks: runs checks on one public URL and returns the issues and warnings to fix, most important first, each with evidence and a recommendation.
• verify_fixes: re-runs the same check fresh and reports what is fixed, new, still open or could not be re-checked. A finding counts as fixed only when the re-check assessed it and found no problem.
• get_report: the report of an earlier check (actions only, or every finding).
• ai_crawler_policy: robots.txt lines that allow AI search and block AI training (or any mix), explained per vendor, from a reviewed list of 25 crawler tokens.
• list_checks and usage: the available checks and the key's remaining quota.
• 16 checks: meta tags and social previews, page structure, structured data and entities, AI crawler access, redirects and headers, answer snippets, intent focus, image SEO, page speed, indexability, sitemaps, internal links, hreflang, duplicate content, llms.txt generation and validation.
• Free: 100 checks per key in any 24 hours; results reused from a very recent identical check are free.

Use cases of Backlnk

• Fix missing or broken meta tags, Open Graph and X cards, canonicals and structured data straight from your editor.
• Make sure robots.txt does not block Googlebot or AI search crawlers such as OAI-SearchBot, Claude-SearchBot and PerplexityBot.
• Allow AI search but block AI training with exact, explained robots.txt rules.
