What is MCP Connect?
MCP Connect is an HTTP gateway that exposes local MCP servers (which speak stdio) as HTTP APIs, supporting both Streamable HTTP and a classic request/response bridge. It is intended for developers who need to connect remote cloud AI tools to local MCP servers.
How to use MCP Connect?
Install dependencies, copy .env.example to .env, set ACCESS_TOKEN, configure MCP servers in mcp-servers.json, then run npm run build && npm start. Access the server at http://localhost:3000/health to verify status. Use POST /mcp/:serverId for Streamable HTTP mode or POST /bridge for the classic bridge, both requiring a Bearer token.
Key features of MCP Connect
- Dual HTTP modes: Streamable HTTP and classic request/response bridge
- Session management for conversational continuity
- Bearer token authentication and CORS allowlist
- Built-in Ngrok tunnel for public endpoint exposure
- One‑click deploy to E2B cloud sandbox
Use cases of MCP Connect
- Expose a local MCP‑based coding assistant to a cloud AI chat interface
- Integrate MCP tool servers (e.g.,
fetch) into remote applications via HTTP
- Run untrusted MCP servers safely inside an isolated E2B sandbox
