Overview

What is Xflow MCP Server?

Xflow MCP Server is the hosted MCP app from Xflow (Xflowpay) that brings live USD to INR exchange rates, currency conversion and an AI-generated 3-day USD/INR outlook into Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants, with no account, login or API key.

Xflow is a cross-border payments platform for Indian businesses, exporters and freelancers who get paid from abroad. Its MCP app exposes the FX data Xflow uses on its own site: the current USD→INR mid-market rate, an XE reference rate and Xflow's daily AI sentiment-based forecast. The app is strictly read-only. It cannot move money, access an Xflow account or collect personal information. Xflow notes the feature is currently in testing and may change, and only the USD→INR pair is supported.

How to use Xflow MCP Server?

Xflow's own guide covers the directory apps: in Claude, open Customize, go to the Connectors directory, search for "Xflow" (not "Xflowpay") and click Enable; in ChatGPT, open Settings > Apps, search for "Xflow" and connect. No configuration, API key or login is needed.

For clients where you add servers by URL, the endpoint is:

https://mcp.xflowpay.com/mcp/claude

It uses Streamable HTTP and needs no authentication.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http xflow https://mcp.xflowpay.com/mcp/claude

Claude Desktop and claude.ai

Use the Xflow entry in the connectors directory as above, or open Settings > Connectors, click Add custom connector, name it "Xflow" and paste the URL. There is no sign-in step.

Cursor

Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json or a project's .cursor/mcp.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "xflow": {
      "url": "https://mcp.xflowpay.com/mcp/claude"
    }
  }
}

VS Code

Add this to .vscode/mcp.json:

{
  "servers": {
    "xflow": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.xflowpay.com/mcp/claude"
    }
  }
}

In Claude and ChatGPT the app can render interactive widgets (a currency calculator and a forecast chart) inline in the chat; coding clients get the text results.

Key features of Xflow MCP Server

  • Official app from Xflow; no account, login or API key required.
  • Live USD→INR mid-market rate from Xflow, with XE as a supplementary reference rate.
  • Converts any USD amount to INR at the live Xflow rate.
  • AI-generated 3-day USD/INR outlook: expected low/high range and a target high.
  • Today's intraday rate series for charting, with a configurable bucket interval.
  • Interactive in-chat widgets for the calculator and forecast in Claude and ChatGPT.
  • Read-only by design; Xflow states it does not store conversation data or collect personal data.

Xflow MCP Server tools

Our probe of the live server returned four tools, all limited to USD→INR:

  • Current rate and conversion: convert_usd_to_inr returns today's live mid-market rate with the XE reference and, given an optional amount_usd, the INR equivalent. fx_live_rate returns the most recent Xflow rate point for the FX Insights chart.
  • History: fx_historical_rates returns today's mid-market rate series. It requires startTime and endTime as Unix seconds plus an interval in seconds (600 gives 10-minute buckets). It covers today only, not prior days.
  • Forecast: fx_forecast returns Xflow's AI-generated 3-day outlook with the expected range and target high.

Each tool returns no data if Xflow has no rate data available.

Use cases of Xflow MCP Server

  • Quick rate check: "What's the USD to INR rate right now?"
  • Invoice planning: "Convert $500 to INR at the live rate."
  • Timing a transfer: "What's the USD/INR outlook for the next 3 days?" (for reference only, not advice).
  • Intraday view: "Show me how USD/INR has moved today in 10-minute intervals."
  • Calculator widget: "Open the USD INR calculator."

Troubleshooting Xflow MCP Server

  • Widget is blank or not updating: start a new chat and try again, or disable and re-enable the app in your AI platform's settings.
  • Unsupported currency pair error: only USD→INR is supported. Make sure USD is the source and INR the destination.
  • App does not show up in the directory: search for "Xflow", not "Xflowpay".
  • No data returned: the tools return nothing when Xflow has no rate or forecast data available; try again later.

Frequently asked questions

1

Is the Xflow MCP Server official?

Yes. It is published by Xflow Payments India Private Limited and documented at docs.xflowpay.com. Xflow labels it as in testing, so it may change.

2

Do I need an Xflow account or API key?

No. Xflow's guide says no account, login or API key is required, and it does not mention any charge for the app.

3

Can it send money or access my Xflow account?

No. It is strictly read-only. It cannot move money, start a payment or remittance, access any account, or change settings.

4

Which currencies does it support?

Only USD→INR. Other currency pairs are not supported at this time.

5

Is the 3-day forecast financial advice?

No. Xflow says the forecast is AI-generated, for informational purposes only, and not financial or investment advice. Verify rates independently before making decisions.

6

Does it work with Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code?

Xflow documents Claude and ChatGPT. Because the endpoint is a public Streamable HTTP server with no auth, it can also be added to Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code with the URL above; the interactive widgets only render in clients that support them.

7

What is the Xflow remote MCP server?

The Xflow remote MCP server is a hosted Model Context Protocol endpoint at https://mcp.xflowpay.com/mcp/claude, so AI assistants can connect to it without installing or running anything locally.

8

How do I connect to the Xflow MCP server?

Add the endpoint https://mcp.xflowpay.com/mcp/claude to any MCP-compatible client such as Claude Code, Cursor, or VS Code. The setup snippets on this page configure each client in one step.

9

Does the Xflow MCP server require authentication?

Authentication requirements for Xflow have not been confirmed in this listing. Check the provider’s documentation before connecting.

10

Which transport does the Xflow MCP server use?
