Overview

What is Wispr Flow MCP Server?

Wispr Flow MCP Server is the official remote MCP server from Wispr Flow that lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other AI apps search and read your Notetaker meetings, transcripts, Scratchpad notes and calendar events. Access is read-only and you connect by signing in with your Wispr Flow account.

Wispr Flow is best known as a voice dictation app for Mac and Windows; its Notetaker feature records and summarizes meetings. The MCP connection means you no longer have to copy transcripts into a chat by hand: the assistant can find the right meeting and read its summary, notes or transcript on request.

How to use Wispr Flow MCP Server?

Requirements, according to Wispr's help center:

  • A Wispr Flow account with Notetaker and MCP access (Mac and Windows).
  • Cloud Sync enabled if Flow prompts for it (Settings calls it "Dictation cloud storage").
  • No API key or token. Authorization happens in your browser and is account-wide.

The server URL is the same for every client:

https://api.wisprflow.ai/connect/mcp

Add it exactly as shown, without a trailing slash. In Wispr Flow, Settings → MCP also has one-click "Add to Claude", "Add to ChatGPT", "Add to Gemini" and "Add to Cursor" buttons.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http wispr-flow https://api.wisprflow.ai/connect/mcp

Then run /mcp in Claude Code and complete the sign-in in your browser.

Claude Desktop and claude.ai

Open Settings → Connectors, choose Add custom connector, paste the URL and connect. Sign in with your Wispr Flow account in the browser tab that opens, then turn Wispr Flow on for a chat with + → Connectors → Wispr Flow. On Team or Enterprise plans an Owner may need to add the connector for the organization first.

Cursor

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "wispr-flow": {
      "url": "https://api.wisprflow.ai/connect/mcp"
    }
  }
}

VS Code

{
  "servers": {
    "wispr-flow": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://api.wisprflow.ai/connect/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Save this as .vscode/mcp.json. In each client, finish the browser sign-in when prompted. If you use Google, Apple, Microsoft or enterprise SSO, Wispr says to complete the sign-in within 5 minutes.

To test the connection, ask about a recent meeting. If the answer refers to your real meetings, you are connected.

Key features of Wispr Flow MCP Server

  • Official, hosted server: nothing to install, and Flow does not need to stay open.
  • Read-only: clients cannot create, edit, share or delete content or change sharing settings.
  • Reads meeting summaries, notes, transcripts, attendees and tasks.
  • Reads Scratchpad notes, calendar events and linked recordings, upcoming meetings with pre-reads, and recurring meetings.
  • Resolves calendar or conference links to events, and opens shared-note links you have access to.
  • OAuth browser sign-in; no API key or token to manage.
  • One URL works with multiple clients, each authorized separately.

Use cases of Wispr Flow MCP Server

  • Meeting recap: "Summarize yesterday's product review and list the action items assigned to me."
  • Prep for a call: "What did we discuss last time with this customer, and what is on my calendar with them next week?"
  • Follow-ups across a series: "Go through the last four weekly syncs and list decisions that are still open."
  • Quote the source: "Pull the part of the transcript where pricing came up in Tuesday's call."
  • Combine with other tools: draft a follow-up email or a task list in another connector based on a Notetaker summary.

Troubleshooting Wispr Flow MCP Server

  • Connected, but no matching notes. Search matches titles, summaries and notes, not transcripts. Check that you authorized the right account (personal and work accounts are separate), that cloud access is on, and that the connector is toggled on for the chat. Then name a specific meeting or date.
  • "Cloud Sync must be enabled to use this feature." Enable it if it is unlocked; otherwise ask your admin.
  • "This feature is not available for HIPAA-covered accounts." An active personal or organization BAA blocks every MCP feature.
  • Calendar events missing. Reconnect the affected calendar under Wispr Flow Settings → Connectors.
  • Authorization error or cancelled connection. Connect again from the client and approve access in the browser.

Frequently asked questions

1

Is the Wispr Flow MCP server official?

Yes. It is documented in Wispr Flow's help center and hosted by Wispr at `https://api.wisprflow.ai/connect/mcp`.

2

Can the assistant change or delete my meetings?

No. Access is read-only. Clients cannot create, edit, share or delete content, change sharing settings, or read dictation history or Notetaker chat history.

3

Do I need an API key?

No. You sign in with your Wispr Flow account in the browser. Wispr states there is no API key or token, and authorization covers your whole account.

4

Can it read my dictation history?

No. The MCP connection covers Notetaker meetings, Scratchpad notes and calendar data, not dictation history.

5

Does it work with Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code?

Yes. Any client that supports remote MCP servers can use the same URL. Wispr Flow offers one-click setup for Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Cursor.

6

Why does Wispr Flow not appear for my HIPAA account?

An active personal or organization BAA blocks every MCP feature and removes Wispr tools from the client's tool list.

7

How do I disconnect a client?

Remove Wispr Flow in that client's connector settings. Flow itself has no disconnect control, and changes can take a few minutes to apply.

8

What is the Wispr Flow remote MCP server?

The Wispr Flow remote MCP server is a hosted Model Context Protocol endpoint at https://api.wisprflow.ai/connect/mcp, so AI assistants can connect to it without installing or running anything locally.

9

How do I connect to the Wispr Flow MCP server?

Add the endpoint https://api.wisprflow.ai/connect/mcp to any MCP-compatible client such as Claude Code, Cursor, or VS Code. The setup snippets on this page configure each client in one step.

10

Does the Wispr Flow MCP server require authentication?

Yes. Wispr Flow uses OAuth: the first time you connect, your MCP client opens a browser window to sign in and authorize access, then reuses the credentials for future sessions.

11

Which transport does the Wispr Flow MCP server use?

Wispr Flow exposes a streamable-http endpoint, the transport used by remote MCP servers and supported by all major MCP clients.
