Overview

What is SmartShifts?

SmartShifts is employee scheduling software for multi-location businesses. Its remote MCP server connects an AI assistant to the organization's workforce records within the connected user's permitted modules, actions and locations.

What you can do

  • Review shifts, coverage gaps and schedules by location
  • Check time-off requests and tasks
  • Search and read workforce records and attachments the user can access
  • Validate and stage changes, then check the status of pending operations

Access and safety

  • Connect with OAuth. Existing role and location restrictions are the upper bound.
  • Ordinary creates and edits can be automatic; sensitive, bulk and delete actions require approval by default, reviewed by the owner or an administrator inside SmartShifts.
  • The MCP server cannot change policy, approve its own requests, or reach platform, credential or access-control APIs.

Connect

Add https://app.smartshifts.com/api/mcp as a custom MCP connector in your AI client and sign in with your SmartShifts account.

Frequently asked questions

1

What is the SmartShifts remote MCP server?

The SmartShifts remote MCP server is a hosted Model Context Protocol endpoint at https://app.smartshifts.com/api/mcp, so AI assistants can connect to it without installing or running anything locally.

2

SmartShifts exposes a Streamable HTTP endpoint, the transport used by remote MCP servers and supported by all major MCP clients.
