How do I connect Claude Desktop to my remote MCP server?
Edit Claude’s configuration file to add an MCP server entry using `npx mcp-remote` with your server’s full `workers.dev/sse` URL. The local proxy handles authentication via a browser login.

A template for deploying a remote MCP (Model Context Protocol) server on Cloudflare Workers with OAuth login. It lets developers expose MCP tools over HTTP and connect remote clients such as Claude Desktop or the MCP Inspector.
Clone the repository, install dependencies with npm install, then run locally via npx nx dev remote-mcp-server. For deployment, create a KV namespace with npx wrangler kv namespace create OAUTH_KV, add its ID to wrangler.jsonc, and run npm run deploy. Connect clients by pointing them to the server’s /sse endpoint (e.g., localhost:8787/sse or a workers.dev URL).
Edit Claude’s configuration file to add an MCP server entry using `npx mcp-remote` with your server’s full `workers.dev/sse` URL. The local proxy handles authentication via a browser login.
The server uses Server‑Sent Events (SSE). When connecting via the MCP Inspector, set the Transport Type to `SSE`.
Restart Claude or test the connection directly with `npx mcp-remote <server‑URL>`. If authentication files cause trouble, clear them with `rm -rf ~/.mcp-auth`.
Node.js is needed for local development and the `mcp-remote` proxy. The server itself runs on Cloudflare Workers via Wrangler.
Create a Cloudflare KV namespace named `OAUTH_KV` using Wrangler, add the namespace ID to `wrangler.jsonc`, and run `npm run deploy`. The server is then available at a `workers.dev` URL.
