Overview
What is Paste MCP?

FAQ from Paste MCP
What does Paste MCP do that Paste’s built‑in features don’t?
Paste MCP gives AI tools (like Claude, Codex, Cursor) programmatic access to your clipboard history and pinboards, allowing them to search, read, save, and organize items — all without manual copying and pasting.
What are the system requirements?
macOS with Paste 6.6+ and MCP enabled in Settings → MCP & AI Tools, plus Node.js 18+.
Where is my clipboard data stored and processed?
All data remains on your local Mac. The server runs locally, and no clipboard content leaves your device.
How do I install Paste MCP?
Run npx add-mcp @pasteapp/mcp in your terminal, or connect from Paste’s settings: Settings → MCP & AI Tools → Connect AI Tool.
Can I revoke an AI tool’s access later?
Yes. AI tools can only connect after you approve access, and you can remove access at any time in Paste settings.
