Overview

What is OpenProfit?

OpenProfit shows what each of your apps earns after its bills. It reads revenue from Stripe, Polar, Paddle, Lemon Squeezy and RevenueCat, and costs from OpenAI, Anthropic, Vercel, Cloudflare, Railway and nine other providers. Then it splits both by product: each OpenAI project, Vercel project, Anthropic workspace or Cloudflare zone maps to the app it belongs to.

The MCP server gives your agent the same numbers. Ask Claude which app lost money last month, why costs jumped this week, or what goes on line 27b of your Schedule C.

What your agent can do

30 tools, including:

  • get_overview: revenue, costs, profit and MRR for a period, for one product or all of them
  • list_lines: every revenue and cost line, with its provider, date and product
  • list_alerts and update_alert_rule: bill spikes and the rules that catch them
  • list_sub_units and map_sub_unit: assign an OpenAI project or Vercel project to a product
  • connect_provider and connection_status: connect Stripe, OpenAI and the rest without pasting keys into the chat
  • create_product, add_flat_cost, set_public_page: manage products, fixed costs and public pages
  • export_journal and export_csv: a month's journal for QuickBooks or Xero, or the raw lines

Connect

claude.ai, ChatGPT, Cursor: add https://openprofit.dev/mcp as a custom connector and leave the client ID and secret empty. OpenProfit asks you to sign in, pick a workspace and choose Read or Read and write.

Claude Code:

claude mcp add --transport http openprofit https://openprofit.dev/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer your_api_token"

Create the token in Settings under API tokens. Or sign in from the terminal and run the local server:

npx openprofit login
claude mcp add openprofit -- npx -y openprofit mcp

Your keys stay out of the chat

No tool takes a raw provider key. connect_provider returns a one-time link that works for 15 minutes, and you enter the key in the browser. With the local server, it reads the key from an env file you name. OpenProfit encrypts every key and asks for the narrowest, read-only key each provider offers.

Tools that delete data, such as delete_product and remove_connection, carry destructiveHint, so your client asks before running them. The weekly email lists every change an agent made.

Pricing and self-hosting

Free under $2,500 MRR, then $19 or $49 a month. OpenProfit is open source under the MIT license and runs as one Docker image. A self-hosted instance serves the same MCP endpoint at its own URL.
