Is Mailgun Docs MCP Server official?
It is served from Mailgun's own documentation domain, documentation.mailgun.com. Mailgun has not published a dedicated setup page for it; its MCP documentation covers the separate local server.

Basic information
Mailgun Docs MCP Server is a hosted, read-only endpoint on documentation.mailgun.com. AI coding assistants can search Mailgun's documentation and look up endpoints, parameters and auth schemes for the Mailgun API, Validations, Email Preview and Alerts APIs. It needs no API key and does not send email.

The tools are on the global `tools` object. The only extra global is `tools` - there is no `fetch`, `console`, `setTimeout`, `require`, or Node.js API; all I/O goes through `tools`. Workflow - minimize round-trips; one `describe-tools` call plus one `execute` call covers most requests: 1. Analyze the request and decide which sandbox tools it needs. 2. Call `describe-tools` with those names to get their exact TypeScript signatures - inputs, result shapes, and a worked example. NEVER call `execute` with guessed method names, parameter names, enum values, or result field names: read fields off the declared return types, not from assumptions. 3. Batch everything into a SINGLE script: chain tool calls, pass one call's output into the next, process results in plain JavaScript, and `return` only what the request needs. Available tools (exact signatures come from `describe-tools`): - listApis — Lists the APIs documented in this project - getEndpoints — Get all endpoints for a specific API. Get the exact TypeScript signatures of the sandbox tools available to `execute`. Analyze the user request first, then pass `tools` with only the tool names the request needs (every name is listed in this input schema / description); omit `tools` only when you cannot tell which tools apply. Always call this before your first `execute` and never guess signatures. Request every tool the task may need in ONE call instead of calling this repeatedly.

Mailgun Docs MCP Server is a free, public MCP endpoint on Mailgun's documentation site that lets AI coding assistants search the Mailgun docs and read its OpenAPI definitions. It is read-only, needs no API key, and never sends email or touches your account.
Mailgun, part of Sinch, is an email API for sending, receiving, validating and tracking email. When you write a Mailgun integration with an assistant, the hard part is getting endpoint paths, parameters and regional base URLs right. This docs server answers those questions from Mailgun's own published specs, so the code your assistant writes is based on the current reference instead of memory.
The server is hosted on Mailgun's documentation site, so there is nothing to install and no credentials to configure:
https://documentation.mailgun.com/mcp
It speaks Streamable HTTP. Our probe connected anonymously and the server identified itself as "Docs MCP server".
claude mcp add --transport http mailgun-docs https://documentation.mailgun.com/mcp
Open Settings > Connectors, choose Add custom connector, name it "Mailgun Docs" and paste https://documentation.mailgun.com/mcp. There is no sign-in step.
Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

api.mailgun.net) and EU (api.eu.mailgun.net) server URLs.Our probe returned two MCP tools, which together give access to a set of documentation functions:
describe-tools returns the exact TypeScript signatures of the sandbox functions. The assistant calls it once before its first script so it never guesses parameter names.execute runs a JavaScript snippet in a sandbox whose only global is tools. There is no fetch, console or Node.js API; all lookups go through these functions:
listApis lists the API definitions published on the site.getEndpoints lists every path and method for one API.getEndpointInfo returns full detail for one endpoint, including parameters, examples and security.getSecuritySchemes and getFullApiDescription return an API's auth schemes or its complete OpenAPI document.search searches the documentation content.submitFeedback reports a documentation page that is wrong or incomplete.Mailgun also publishes the Mailgun MCP Server (@mailgun/mcp-server), which runs locally with your Mailgun API key and performs real account actions such as sending email, reading stats and managing domains. Mailgun's MCP page says that server is local only and not offered as a hosted service. The docs server on this page is the opposite: hosted, keyless and limited to documentation. Use the docs server while building, and the local server when you want the assistant to act on your account.

No. The endpoint accepts anonymous connections, and nothing in it uses your account.
No. It only reads documentation and API definitions. For account actions use the local [Mailgun MCP Server](/servers/mailgun-mcp-server).
Yes. Connecting needs no account or payment. Mailgun's own sending plans are separate.
At the time of our check, `listApis` returned the Mailgun API, Validations Service, Email Preview API and Alerts definitions, plus a search over the documentation pages.
Yes. Any client that supports remote Streamable HTTP servers can connect with the URL above.
The Mailgun Docs remote MCP server is a hosted Model Context Protocol endpoint at https://documentation.mailgun.com/mcp, so AI assistants can connect to it without installing or running anything locally.
Add the endpoint https://documentation.mailgun.com/mcp to any MCP-compatible client such as Claude Code, Cursor, or VS Code. The setup snippets on this page configure each client in one step.
Authentication requirements for Mailgun Docs have not been confirmed in this listing. Check the provider’s documentation before connecting.
