SEC EDGAR financial data — standardized financials, ratios, peer comps, filing diffs, and full-text search, as an MCP connector or REST API

Overview

What is Edgarstack?

Edgarstack is an MCP server that turns SEC EDGAR’s XBRL and full‑text search data into eight tools Claude can call directly, including ticker‑to‑CIK lookup, standardized financials, computed ratios, peer comparisons, recent filings, filing section extraction, filing‑over‑filing diffs, and full‑text search across every SEC filer since 2001. It uses Streamable HTTP transport and authenticates via an API key embedded in the connector URL.

How to use Edgarstack?

Set the connector URL to https://edgarstack.com/mcp/<your-api-key> and configure it as an MCP server in your Claude client. A REST API is also available under /api/v1 using the same key via the X-API-Key header.

FAQ from Edgarstack

How is Edgarstack different from scraping SEC EDGAR directly?

Edgarstack provides structured, normalized XBRL data and computed metrics through a single MCP interface, eliminating the need to parse raw EDGAR filings or maintain scrapers.

What transport and authentication does Edgarstack use?

It uses Streamable HTTP transport. Authentication is handled by including your API key in the connector URL (https://edgarstack.com/mcp/<your-api-key>). A REST API is also available under /api/v1 with the key passed via X-API-Key.

Where does the data come from?

Data is sourced live from data.sec.gov and efts.sec.gov; Edgarstack does not scrape the SEC website.

What are the pricing and limits?

Edgarstack costs $10.99 per month with a 7‑day free trial. No specific rate limits are mentioned in the README.

Is there documentation available?

Yes, documentation is at https://edgarstack.com/docs.
