Overview

What is Crustdata MCP Server?

The Crustdata MCP server connects AI assistants to Crustdata's real-time B2B data, so you can search and enrich companies, people and contacts, search job listings and track social posts in plain English. It is a hosted OAuth server; you sign in with your Crustdata account.

Crustdata calls itself "the data layer behind modern teams and platforms in sales, recruiting and investing", with data on about 1B people delivered through an API or MCP. This listing uses the endpoint https://mcp.crustdata.com/mcp; Crustdata's docs give https://install.crustdata.com/mcp as the endpoint for every client, and both answer with OAuth sign-in.

How to use Crustdata MCP Server?

You need a Crustdata account (sign in or create one at app.crustdata.com). Interactive clients use OAuth: after adding the server, you sign in with your Crustdata account in the browser. For your own code or agent frameworks where a browser sign-in is not practical, Crustdata accepts an API key as a bearer token.

Server URL:

https://mcp.crustdata.com/mcp

If a client has trouble with it, use the documented https://install.crustdata.com/mcp instead.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http crustdata https://mcp.crustdata.com/mcp

Then run /mcp inside Claude Code, pick crustdata and sign in. Crustdata also offers a Claude Code plugin that registers the same connector and adds ready-to-run skills.

Claude Desktop

In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, then Add custom connector. Name it Crustdata, enter the URL, click Add, then open it under "Not connected" and click Connect to sign in. Connectors are account-wide, so it is then available on claude.ai, Claude Desktop and mobile.

Cursor

{

    }
  }
}

Save in ~/.cursor/mcp.json (Crustdata also has a one-click "Add to Cursor" button) and complete the browser sign-in.

VS Code

{
  "servers": {
    "crustdata": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.crustdata.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Save in .vscode/mcp.json and start the server to sign in.

Programmatic access

{

To check the connection, ask "How many credits do I have?"; a number means you are connected.

Key features of Crustdata MCP Server

  • Companies: find and enrich companies by industry, headcount, location and funding, with full firmographic profiles.
  • People and contacts: search people by title, seniority, company and skills, then enrich profiles with business emails, personal emails and phone numbers.
  • Jobs: search millions of job listings with filters and breakdowns, or pull a company's live openings on demand.
  • Social and web: track recent social posts by person, company or keyword, and search and read web content.
  • Multi-step requests: one prompt can chain steps, and lists are enriched in batches automatically.
  • Transparent credits: every request reports the exact credits it spent, measured from what it actually did.
  • Built-in usage guide: MCP resources such as crustdata://catalog and crustdata://catalog/tools document tools, costs, filters and a zero-credit dry-run mode.

Use cases of Crustdata MCP Server

  • Prospect lists: "Show me AI startups with 100-500 employees."
  • Org mapping: "Who are the engineering leaders at Anthropic?"
  • Hiring signals: "What jobs does Stripe have open right now?"
  • Identity lookup: "Find the profile for jane.doe@acme.com."
  • Chained outreach research: "Find AI startups hiring engineers, then get me the founders' emails."

Troubleshooting Crustdata MCP Server

  • No credit number when testing. Restart your client; a mid-session install may not take effect until you do.
  • Tools appear but calls fail as unauthorized. Signing in is a separate step from adding the connector. Re-run your client's sign-in (for example /mcp in Claude Code).
  • Unexpected credit use. Have the agent read crustdata://catalog/cost and use the dry-run pattern in crustdata://catalog/dry-run before running large jobs.
  • Need help. Contact support@crustdata.co.

Frequently asked questions

1

Is the Crustdata MCP server official?

Yes. It is hosted by Crustdata on install.crustdata.com and documented at docs.crustdata.com/for-agents/mcp.

2

Do I need an API key?

Not for interactive clients: Claude, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and VS Code sign you in with OAuth. For programmatic access, pass your Crustdata API key as `Authorization: Bearer`.

3

How much does it cost?

Requests use Crustdata credits. Costs vary by request and plan, and each request reports the exact credits it spent. See Crustdata's pricing page for per-request costs.

4

What is the feedback tool?

When Crustdata cannot answer a request, the assistant may send a short report through the `feedback` tool. It is told to leave out names, emails and other personal details, and your client asks before the first report.

5

Which clients are supported?

Crustdata documents Claude (web, desktop, mobile), Claude Code, Codex CLI, Antigravity, Cursor, VS Code and ChatGPT, plus any MCP client using an API key.

6

Can it enrich a whole list?

Yes. Hand it a list instead of one name and it enriches the whole list, splitting the work into batches on its own.

7

What is the Crustdata remote MCP server?

The Crustdata remote MCP server is a hosted Model Context Protocol endpoint at https://mcp.crustdata.com/mcp, so AI assistants can connect to it without installing or running anything locally.

8

How do I connect to the Crustdata MCP server?

Add the endpoint https://mcp.crustdata.com/mcp to any MCP-compatible client such as Claude Code, Cursor, or VS Code. The setup snippets on this page configure each client in one step.

9

Does the Crustdata MCP server require authentication?

Yes. Crustdata uses OAuth: the first time you connect, your MCP client opens a browser window to sign in and authorize access, then reuses the credentials for future sessions.

10

Which transport does the Crustdata MCP server use?

Crustdata exposes a streamable-http endpoint, the transport used by remote MCP servers and supported by all major MCP clients.
