Overview
What is Conductor By Thealxlabs?
Conductor is a single Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that gives AI agents (Claude, Cursor, Cline, Copilot, etc.) instant access to 100+ tools through one connection. It uses a plugin system with over 35 plugins, zero-config options, and built-in security.
How to use Conductor By Thealxlabs?
Install globally with npm install -g @useconductor/conductor, then run conductor init for a first-run wizard that configures AI providers, plugins, and client integration. Add a single config block (e.g., "command": "conductor", "args": ["mcp", "start"]) to your AI client’s MCP configuration file. Use the CLI for setup, plugin management, auditing, and health checks.
Key features of Conductor By Thealxlabs

- Secrets stored in OS keychain – never in config files
- Circuit breakers + retry – cascading failures are prevented
- Tamper-evident audit log – SHA-256 chained, append-only JSONL
- Single config block – one integration for any MCP client

FAQ from Conductor By Thealxlabs
Which AI clients does Conductor support?
Any MCP-compatible client: Claude Desktop, Cursor, Cline, Windsurf, Continue.dev, Zed, Aider, Roo Code, VS Code (GitHub Copilot), and more.
Where does Conductor store secrets and data?
Secrets (API keys, tokens) are stored in the OS keychain (macOS Keychain, Linux Secret Service, Windows Credential Manager). Non-secret config and data live at ~/.conductor/ – SQLite DB for history, JSONL audit log, and plugin files.
How do I write a custom plugin?
Install the SDK (@useconductor/sdk), implement the Plugin interface with tools, compile to ~/.conductor/plugins/, and it’s immediately available. Scaffold with conductor plugin create my-plugin.
What are circuit breakers and how do they work?
Every tool call passes through a circuit breaker that opens after 5 consecutive failures and recovers after 30 seconds, preventing failure cascades. State can be inspected and reset via conductor circuit commands.
Is the audit log verifiable?
Yes. The audit log (JSONL format) uses a SHA-256 chain: each entry hashes the previous entry’s hash plus its own content. Use conductor audit verify to check integrity at any time.
