Overview

What is CoinStats MCP?

CoinStats MCP is a hosted Model Context Protocol server that gives AI agents like Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code Copilot and Codex live access to CoinStats crypto data and your own CoinStats portfolio. It's one HTTPS URL. There's no API key to copy: each user signs in to CoinStats in the browser and approves access with OAuth.

Server URL: https://mcp.coinstats.app/mcp

What you can do

  • Market data: real-time prices, charts and market cap for 100,000+ coins, plus fiat rates
  • Portfolio: holdings, P/L, performance charts and transactions from your CoinStats account
  • Wallets & DeFi: balances, transactions and DeFi positions (staking, lending, LP) across 120+ blockchains, including Bitcoin xpub, EVM chains, Solana and Tron
  • Exchanges: compare ticker prices across 200+ exchanges and read balances from connected exchange accounts
  • Historical P/L: cash-flow-adjusted P/L for wallets, exchanges and portfolios, over preset or custom date ranges
  • News: latest and trending crypto news, filtered by source or topic

Codex codex mcp add coinstats --url https://mcp.coinstats.app/mcp codex mcp login coinstats

Any client that supports Streamable HTTP with OAuth 2.1 works. Dynamic Client Registration (RFC 7591) is supported, so you don't need a pre-shared client ID.

Headless / self-hosted: npx @coinstats/coinstats-mcp with COINSTATS_API_KEY set (get a key).

Security

  • OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and per-user tokens. You can revoke access at any time.
  • It can't sign transactions, trade or withdraw. It never moves funds.
  • Write tools (add a transaction, connect a wallet or exchange, delete a portfolio) only act on your CoinStats portfolio records, and only when you ask.
