Is the Carbon Voice MCP Server official?
Yes. It is built by PhononX, the company behind Carbon Voice, and the remote version is hosted at `mcp.carbonvoice.app`.

Basic information
The Carbon Voice MCP Server is the official remote server for Carbon Voice, an async voice messaging app for teams and agents. After OAuth sign-in, an assistant can list and send messages, create voice memos, manage folders and action items, and run AI actions such as summaries.

This listing does not currently have a tool list to display. This does not mean the server has no tools; check its documentation for supported capabilities.
This server requires authentication. Tool discovery may require signing in or credentials from the provider.

The Carbon Voice MCP Server is the official remote MCP server for Carbon Voice, an async voice messaging app for teams and AI agents. It lets Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients read and send voice messages, manage conversations, folders and action items, and run AI actions such as summaries.
Carbon Voice is built around one-tap voice messages that are transcribed automatically, with AI summaries and action items on top. Its makers, PhononX, publish the MCP server as open source (PhononX/cv-mcp-server) and host the remote version at https://mcp.carbonvoice.app, which uses OAuth 2.1 so you never handle an API key.
For the remote server you only need a Carbon Voice account. Per the README, the HTTP version "runs entirely in the cloud and uses OAuth2 authentication", so no API key or Node.js install is required. The first time you use it, your client opens a browser window where you sign in to Carbon Voice and grant permissions.

Run /mcp and choose Authenticate to complete the Carbon Voice sign-in.
From the README: open Search and Tools → Manage Connectors, click Add custom connector, name it "Carbon Voice", enter https://mcp.carbonvoice.app, save, then click Connect and sign in with your Carbon Voice account.
The README's remote configuration:
{
"mcpServers": {
"Carbon Voice": {
"url": "https://mcp.carbonvoice.app"
}
}
}
Save and restart Cursor; it guides you through OAuth on first use.
In .vscode/mcp.json:
{
"servers": {
"carbon-voice": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.carbonvoice.app"
}
}
}
A local stdio version (npx -y @carbonvoice/cv-mcp-server with a CARBON_VOICE_API_KEY) also exists, but its API key must be requested from Carbon Voice's developer team, so the remote server is the easier option.

Not for the remote server. It uses OAuth with your Carbon Voice account. Only the local stdio version needs an API key from Carbon Voice's developer team.
The README documents Cursor and Claude Desktop. Because it is a standard remote MCP server with OAuth, it also works in Claude Code and VS Code.
Yes. Tools include sending conversation and direct messages and creating voice memos, so review tool calls before approving them.
Yes. The code is on GitHub at `PhononX/cv-mcp-server`, and the stdio package is `@carbonvoice/cv-mcp-server` on npm.
Some tools are destructive, such as deleting folders or action items. Your MCP client's approval prompts let you confirm each call.
The Carbon Voice remote MCP server is a hosted Model Context Protocol endpoint at https://mcp.carbonvoice.app/, so AI assistants can connect to it without installing or running anything locally.
Add the endpoint https://mcp.carbonvoice.app/ to any MCP-compatible client such as Claude Code, Cursor, or VS Code. The setup snippets on this page configure each client in one step.
Yes. Carbon Voice uses OAuth: the first time you connect, your MCP client opens a browser window to sign in and authorize access, then reuses the credentials for future sessions.
Carbon Voice exposes a streamable-http endpoint, the transport used by remote MCP servers and supported by all major MCP clients.
