Overview
What is Azure DevOps MCP Server by CData?
Azure DevOps MCP Server by CData is a read-only Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that enables LLMs (such as Claude Desktop) to query live Azure DevOps data. It wraps the CData JDBC Driver for Azure DevOps, which exposes Azure DevOps as relational SQL models, allowing natural language questions without writing SQL.
How to use Azure DevOps MCP Server by CData?
Clone the repository, build with mvn clean install, download and license the CData JDBC Driver for Azure DevOps, configure a connection string using the provided utility, and create a .prp file with driver and JDBC URL parameters. Then configure Claude Desktop by adding the server to claude_desktop_config.json with the path to Java, the JAR, and the .prp file. Alternatively, run the server standalone with java -jar. The server exposes three tools: {servername}_get_tables, {servername}_get_columns, and {servername}_run_query. The server uses stdio transport, so the client must run on the same machine.
