The WordPress MCP Server by CData is a read-only Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that lets LLMs (like Claude Desktop) query live WordPress data using natural language. It wraps the CData JDBC Driver for WordPress, exposing WordPress data as relational SQL models accessible through a simple MCP interface — no SQL required.
Clone the repository, build with mvn clean install, download and license the CData JDBC Driver for WordPress, configure a connection string, create a .prp file with driver and connection details, then add the server to your MCP client (e.g., Claude Desktop) via claude_desktop_config.json. The server uses the stdio transport and runs locally via java -jar.
get_tables, get_columns, run_query..prp file configuration for connection details.Yes. This project builds a read‑only MCP server. CData offers a separate free beta MCP Server for WordPress with full read, write, update, delete, and action capabilities.
You need Java (JDK), Maven (to build), and a licensed CData JDBC Driver for WordPress installed on the same machine.
The server queries live WordPress data directly through the JDBC driver. No local copy of the data is stored.
The server uses `stdio` transport and can only be used with clients running on the same machine.
Authentication is configured via the JDBC connection string (e.g., OAuth, username/password). For OAuth flows, you authenticate in your browser using the connection string utility.
