The Tally MCP Server by CData is a read-only Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that allows LLMs like Claude Desktop to query live Tally data using natural language. It wraps the CData JDBC Driver for Tally, which exposes Tally data as relational SQL models, and provides a simple MCP interface so no SQL is required.
Clone the repository, build the JAR with mvn clean install, download and license the CData JDBC Driver for Tally, and create a .prp configuration file with the driver path, driver class, and JDBC connection string. Then add the server to your client’s MCP configuration (e.g., claude_desktop_config.json) or run it directly with java -jar CDataMCP-jar-with-dependencies.jar <path>.prp. The server uses stdio transport and works only with clients on the same machine.

You need Java, Maven (to build), and the CData JDBC Driver for Tally installed and licensed on the same machine as the client.
Create a `.prp` file with `Prefix`, `ServerName`, `ServerVersion`, `DriverPath`, `DriverClass`, `JdbcUrl`, and optionally `Tables`. Use the connection string utility provided by the JDBC driver to obtain the correct `JdbcUrl`.
No. The server uses `stdio` transport, so it can only be used with clients that run on the same machine as the server.
