Is this server read-only?
Yes. This MCP server provides read-only access to SAP Fieldglass data. For full create, read, update, delete, and action capabilities, use the separate CData MCP Server for SAP Fieldglass (beta).

SAP Fieldglass MCP Server by CData is a read-only Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that allows large language models (LLMs) like Claude Desktop to query live data from SAP Fieldglass using natural language, powered by the CData JDBC Driver for SAP Fieldglass.
Clone the repository, build the JAR with mvn clean install, download and install the CData JDBC Driver for SAP Fieldglass, license the driver, configure the connection string using the provided utility, create a .prp file with properties (Prefix, ServerName, ServerVersion, DriverPath, DriverClass, JdbcUrl, Tables), then configure Claude Desktop by adding the server to claude_desktop_config.json and run or refresh the client. The server uses stdio transport and is launched with java -jar.

You need Java, the CData JDBC Driver for SAP Fieldglass (download and license required), and a client (e.g., Claude Desktop) that supports MCP over `stdio`.
Data is not stored locally; the server connects directly to SAP Fieldglass via the JDBC driver and retrieves live data on each query.
The server communicates over `stdio` and must run on the same machine as the client.
Authentication is configured in the JDBC connection string (e.g., using OAuth). The README instructs users to authenticate through the connection string builder utility before first use.
