What is Claude Historian?

Claude Historian is an MCP server that gives Claude access to your previous messages and conversations. It scans local JSONL Claude Code files, so everything stays on your machine with no external servers, sign-ins, or data collection. It is designed for anyone who uses Claude Code and wants to quickly retrieve past chat history without manually scrolling.

How to use Claude Historian?

After adding the server to your MCP configuration, Claude can automatically search your local JSONL chat history files. You simply ask Claude about a past conversation, and the server fetches the relevant messages from the stored files on your machine.
